New Atlantic 85 Lifeboat
This Lifeboat, which is due to be stationed at Beaumaris
in the autumn of 2009, is a great improvement on the current
Atlantic75 that we have at present.
It carries 4 crew, has radar, radio direction finding capability and
being larger
has more space available for casualties.
It has twin 115hp 4stroke engines which are a big improvement on the
70hp 2stroke engines on the Atlantic 75 giving greater speed,
reliability
and better fuel consumption.
Beaumaris lifeboat covers the whole of the Menai Straits, is one of the busiest in Wales, and last year was involved in almost 80 services.
The crew at Beaumaris are making a public appeal to raise funds for equipment and training on the new boat. Our aim is to raise £15000 for this purpose. Any donations will be gratefully received and acknowledged.
Donations large or small can be made at the station,
or to the Treasurer, J. M. Broughton. The Orchard. Rosemary Lane.
Beaumaris, Isle of Anglesey LL58 8ED.
Cheques made payable to " Beaumaris Lifeboat " please.
Recently the Red Arrows had a display centered on the Lifeboat station and with collections etc. a total of £1500 was raised towards the new boat.
